Hello, I am Luke Samuelson, a video game programmer specializing in systems and game mechanic development.
I’m currently based in Wichita, Kansas. I started my education with two years of computer science before transitioning into video game development. I have three years of development experience, and am currently developing my thesis project, a rogue-lite bullet hell with typing game mechanics called Censored.
Covenants of Nature
I designed and developed a combat system for a fellow peer’s bachelor’s thesis. This provided a great understanding of Unreal’s interface and component system.
Solus
I worked with a larger team at Wichita State University to develop a short demo of a psychological horror game. On this project, I developed several puzzle systems.
Censored
I’m currently creating the proof of concept for my bachelor’s thesis focusing on including game mechanics between the rogue-lite bullet hell genre and the typing game genre. I have established a base procedural generation for my level layouts and primary shooting and typing mechanics.
